Michael Kearney is the Vice President of Emerging Technology and Innovation. Michael is responsible building an innovation cultures by discovering, researching, and mastering emerging technology and trends. Responsible for working with emerging technology that can unlock value and creation solutions across the Hartford. Drives and implements emerging technology strategy for the Hartford.

Michael joined The Hartford in 2012. Prior to his present role, he was responsible for the Information Technology strategy and execution for the Enterprise Claims capability of the Hartford. This includes Commercial insurance (Small, Middle, and Large), Consumer, and Workers Compensation.

Kearney has 30 years of experience as a senior executive responsible for building and optimizing information technology capabilities to improve organizational growth and efficiency.

Prior to joining The Hartford, Kearney worked at Alvarez and Marsal, where he was responsible for leading IT consulting engagements in financial services institutions. Specializing in rationalization of IT strategy and cost spend reductions in insurance, investments, and banking institutions.

Kearney was the senior vice president and chief information officer at World Learning, a nonprofit organization advancing leadership through education, exchange, and development programs in more than 60 countries. Under his leadership, World Learning upgraded its technological infrastructure and obtained multi-million dollar grants from Cisco and Microsoft.

Kearney worked at BearingPoint, a leading management and technology consulting firm. He also served as chief technology officer and senior vice president at The Knights of Columbus, where he built a sophisticated technology team and global infrastructure for the Fortune 1000 insurance firm, and as the chief operations officer for the Phoenix Companies’ investment subsidiary in Hartford, Connecticut.

Kearney is a graduate of Bryant University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a concentration in management information systems.
