Many engineers and technologist are good being just that. But how does one go from being an engineer or technologist to a first line leader or even director? This workshop will discuss many of the strategies, pitfalls and requirements necessary to have a successful leadership career.

Justin Cloud, is the Executive Director of The Cloud Family Foundation, and an Engineering Leader with L3Harris Technologies. He will discuss strategies, pitfalls and requirements necessary to have a successful leadership career. Many individuals are thrusted into leadership ill-prepared for success required of them. Additionally for people of color, the requirements, challenges and pitfalls are 2-3 times more prevalent that their white male counterpart. 

This "Navigating Our Way to Technical Leadership" will be a mentoring session for the masses. Attendees will have takeaways they can immediately apply to either transitioning into to a leadership role, or getting their technical leadership career back on track. The Navigating Our Way to Technical Leadership workshop will discuss creating a career strategy, discuss the importance of mentors and sponsors, and identity where and when to say no to opportunities presented to them.

The goal of this workshop is to arm participants with information they would not get normally. Far too often the most important and critical information to success in leadership only gets in the hands of certain few. This session will give attendees the secrets many people don't say.
